Within the framework of his official visit to France on November 7 the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, met with representatives of business circles and investors of France in Paris.

The sides discussed prospects of cooperation and opportunities of Tajikistan and France for the development of trade and economic relations.

The event was opened by the Chairman of the Tajik-French Business Council Christophe Fanten.

In his speech during presentation of investment opportunities of Tajikistan, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan noted the current meeting as an important factor for the development and expansion of cooperation between the representatives of various spheres of two friendly countries.

It was noted that the Tajik side highly appreciates the current level of partnership with France and considers it as an important priority in its foreign policy for the development of beneficial relations with France.

The development of intergovernmental cooperation in various sectors such as further hydropower development, transit infrastructure, industry, including light industry, food and chemical industry, machinery, ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy, tourism, processing of ecologically clean agricultural products for export has been proposed.

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of cooperation in the framework of the Tajik-French Business Council, trade and economic relations between the companies of the two countries and the need to establish the French Development Agency in Tajikistan.

It was noted that currently there are over 20 French companies and enterprises in the Republic of Tajikistan.

During the meeting with French businessmen and investors there was also presented the rich natural resources of Tajikistan, such as water, precious stones, ferrous and nonferrous metals, as well as other minerals, wide opportunities for cooperation in agriculture, cultivation of high quality products, fruit, vegetables and cotton.

Speaking at the event the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Central Asia, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the French Republic in Tajikistan, heads of well-known companies AIRBUS, CLUSTER MONTAGNE, FIVES Group, GROUP INNITHERA, SAFRAN, SCHIEVER, THALES, TOTAL, TRACTEBEL ENGINEERING and MEDEF INTERNATIONAL highly appreciated the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, for the creation of favorable investment climate and expressed interest in participation in the development of the economy of Tajikistan.

At the end, French business circles were invited to visit Tajikistan and get acquainted with the trade and investment opportunities of our country.

During the meeting there was a good and long discussion about finding new ways of trade and economic cooperation.

As the result of the meeting new cooperation documents for the development and expansion of trade relations have been signed:

Memorandum of Understanding between the State Unitary Enterprise "Tajinvest" and the Association "MEDEF International" of the French Republic.

The agreement on cooperation between TALCO company and the French company Fives amounting to € 200 million, in the first phase, € 52 million for its rehabilitation. It is noteworthy that 45 years ago, a roasting factory was founded by the company "Fives".

Trilateral cooperation agreement between Talco, French company Fives and German Riedhammer company on import of modern technology for Talco roasting factory.

Agreement on Cooperation between European Airbus Company and Tajik company SomonAir. 

It should be noted that SomonAir has already delivered one helicopter to Tajikistan and another five helicopters will arrive.

An agreement between the French company "Labarotoria INNOTEK International" and the Tajik company "SIFAT FARMA" on cooperation in the field of pharmaceuticals.

Cooperation agreement between the LLC “Amid” of the Republic of Tajikistan and the French company "Shiver Group" on the establishment of a trade center in Bobojon Ghafurov district of Sughd region.
